The AR+ mode allows you to place annotations in the live stream of the mobile user that stays in place despite movement in the room or change of perspective.

Session interfaceStep 1: To start the scanning process, enter the AR+ mode (Fig. 7) (6) (see "How can I start the AR+ Mode on IOS sessions?") and follow the instructions on your screen displayed (see Fig. 9)

  • The required movement is similar to trying to see the hologram on a banknote.

  • As soon as the virtual blue grid appears on your screen, 3D annotations can be placed.

Surface scanning for ar

  • Please make sure to scan the entire surface, where annotations are to be placed (e.g., an entire machine), upfront, so that it is fully covered with the virtual grid. If you scan and annotate part by part, annotations may be slightly displaced. Detailed scanning thus increases the accuracy.

  • For this function to work as precisely as possible, you have to move the camera of your mobile device to properly scan the entire surface, where annotations are to be placed. The scanning process was successful once a virtual grid appears.

Features in AR mode

Step 2: You can annotate with 2D freehand drawings (Fig. 10) (2) in different colors and stroke width, see fig. 9 below. (1)

Step 3: An additional feature available exclusively in AR+ mode is the placement of straight (3) or rotating (5) 3D arrows.

  • The direction of the arrow is defined via the respective drop-down menu.

  • The arrow is placed upon a click on the designated position on the grid.

Step 4: Individual 3D annotations can still be moved, scaled, or deleted later on using the scale icon. (6)

Step 5: This manipulation can be blocked by activating the lock symbol. (7)

Step 6: To undo or repeat the latest steps, please use the arrow keys on the right edge of the screen. (10)

  • To delete all annotations at once, click on the trash icon. (10)

Step 7: The flash is still available in AR+ mode. (8)

Step 8: The speaker icon (9) allows you to mute and thus control the incoming audio streams.

Step 9: The microphone icon (9) allows you to mute yourself and thus control the transmission of your audio stream.

Step 10: By using the ruler (9), you can measure distances in the live stream.

Measure distance in AR

Step 11: Once you selected the ruler (Fig. 11) (1), define the start and endpoint by simply tapping on the screen (2).

  • The software automatically calculates the distance between the points and displays them either in the unit cm or inch. (3)

Step 12: With every further click the chain is extended. To measure a separate distance, tap the green “+” icon and define a new start and endpoint. (4)

  • To close the AR+ collaboration, click on the red “X” in the upper right corner.

Manipulation of 3D annotations or 3D objects

In case you want to move, scale, or delete individual 3D annotations or 3D objects in AR+ mode, please use the scale button (see Fig. 10). However, this function is only available if the lock symbol (Fig. 10) is not activated.

Manipulation of 3d annotations and 3d objects

Step 13: Click on individual annotations or objects to select them and freely move them around or scale them using the zoom buttons. (Fig.12) (1)

Step 14: 3D objects can also be rotated with the help of finger gestures.

  • To remove a specific annotation, select it and click on “DELETE” (2).

Step 15: The “x” (3) takes you back to the regular AR+ mode.

  • As soon as you click on the red “X” in the upper right corner, you will exit the entire AR+ mode.
